I have been in the financial services industry since graduating from the University of Maine in 1979. Since 1991, my sole focus has been on helping people realize their dream of homeownership. Having worked in the Plattsburgh, New York area at the time that Plattsburgh Air Force Base was in operation gave me a great deal of knowledge in VA mortgages. I would go into my regional office about once a week and each visit, I would have about 5 loans to submit. And 4 of them were VA loans. So, the others around the office started calling me 'Mister VA' and that is the nickname that I have used ever since. I have helped folks in New York, Vermont, New Hampshire and Maine to purchase homes, and I presently am working as a mortgage broker in the Tampa Bay area.
Living in an area known as the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont has its rewards and its challenges. Being able to drive to work in five minutes without seeing a traffic light would be in the reward column. I also travel to the Colebrook, NH, area just about every week, and have done so for about 12 years.
Professionally, I have earned the designation of Certified Mortgage Professional from the Vermont Mortgage Bankers Association and in New Hampshire. I am on the membership committee of both the Vermont Mortgage Bankers Association and the Mortgage Bankers and Brokers Association of New Hampshire. I have completed many educational classes and keep up with the changes and trends in the industry. This allows me to be an advisor to those seeking help in the area of mortgage financing.
I am always looking for new ways to help finance home purchases and I have been a big promoter of the FHA 203k rehab program. As my parents have grown older, I have become aware of the need for the Reverse Mortgage and our company, at my insistence, has pursued the ability to originate them.
Personally, I am married and we have 4 children between us ranging in age from 28 to 19. There are also 4 grandchildren. My son served in the Army in Iraq/Kuwait and is presently serving full time in the Vermont Army National Guard. I am a basketball official in the winter months and usually call 35 games a season. [I took 26 years off--I used to be a board certified official in college]. I also have recently taken up golf and was a board member of the Newport Country Club. I don't win much money, but I have a lot of fun.
